FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In the final two games of the series, Florida Tech earned a run-rule win and an extra-innings win over the Nova Southeastern softball team to sweep the series at the AD Griffin Sports Complex on Satruday afternoon.

FINAL SCORE: Florida Tech Panthers 8 (W: M. Krutsinger, 7-7), Nova Southeastern Sharks 0 (L: D. Sprengers, 6-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 2ND: With the bases loaded, the Panthers made it on the board as a run was walked in. A sacrifice fly by MaKayla Palmer added another run for FIT before a three-run homer by Vanessa Rubio pushed their lead to 5-0.
TOP 4TH: An RBI-single up the middle by FIT's Xiary Emerenciana allowed two to score, extending the Panthers' lead to 7-0. Two batters later, Jessica Callahan sent a sacrifice fly to right to represent FIT's final run of the game and 8-0 run-rule victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 5TH: With one out on the board,
Sydney Lageyre sent a triple down the right field line and a ground out by the next batter,
Kailynn Blackwood, allowed her to score and put the Sharks ahead 1-0.
BOTTOM 7TH: With runners at second and third, a sacrifice fly by Rubio knotted the game, 1-1, and forced the extra innings.
TOP 10TH: After Rubio led off with a single through the right side, FIT earned their first lead of the game, 2-1, as Alexus Smith doubled to left center to score her.
BOTTOM 10TH: With two outs on the board and Lageyre on second,
Lexie Storrer singled to left center to score her and knot the game once more, 2-2.
TOP 13TH: With runners at second and third, a throwing error committed by the Sharks allowed both to cross the plate for a 4-2 FIT advantage and eventual winning score.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Storrer was 3-for-6 with one RBI while Lageyre was 2-for-5.
- Storrer was handed the loss after going the distance, allowing four runs (1 ER) on six hits with four strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Lageyre's triple was her second of the season and fifth of her career.
- The last time the Sharks went to double-digit innings was on Apr. 22, 2012 against Florida Southern.
- The 13 innings played today were the most the Sharks have competed in since Apr. 29, 2011, when NSU played 15 innings against Florida Southern.
